Khadi, a hand-spun and handwoven organic cotton fabric, is woven for us by Udyog Bharti. On this undyed, and unbleached base, Md. Ashraf — a master embroiderer from Bengal — works with ari chain stitch to create flowing rhythms across the frame. Each panel is embroidered patiently by hand before it is stitched together, so that the garment emerges with khadi’s natural texture, traced with the fine signature of Ashraf’s embroidery.
