ARMAAN is defined by its double pleats, which set the width high at the waist and allow the form to open through the body of the shorts. The volume is deliberate, held in a broad, steady line that doesn’t collapse as it moves. Oversized in proportion, it creates an architectural outline that stays consistent from front to back.

Khadi cotton, hand-spun and handwoven for us by Udyog Bharti, forms the base of this piece. Across this surface, Md. Ashraf — a master artisanfrom Bengal — works with chain stitch and French knots, setting geometric floral motifs inspired by the Nakashi patterns found on courtyard walls in village homes. Each panel is embroidered patiently by hand before it is stitched, allowing the fabric’s quiet texture to sit alongside the fine, deliberate marks of Ashraf’s work. Chambray and washed indigo khadi panels are then joined in a stripe patchwork, introducing shifts in tone and surface within the cloth.
