In Andhra Pradesh, we work with artisans of Natural Loom, who have practiced the making of ikat yarns for generations. The yarns are bound and dyed in sections, so the design appears only as the weaving begins. Their patterns have edges that soften where the dyed and undyed yarns meet — a signature of this craft. A technique that’s both exacting and guided by the hand, giving each length of cloth a pattern that is never exactly repeated.
