Kala cotton (rain fed cotton that is indigenous to Gujarat) woven on a handloom by Laalji Bhikha Vankar, a master weaver in Kutch, Gujarat. Here he has used a Tangaliya technique, a form of weaving that requires a high skill level and an eye for accuracy as tiny dots of extra weft are twisted around a number of warp threads, giving an effect of bead embroidery on the fabric. This intricate process of twisting extra weft while weaving creates beautiful geometrical patterns and forms.
